Battery combustion jet tester
GB31241 battery combustion jet Device
Testing requirements:After the battery is fully charged according to the specified test method, the battery is placed on the wire mesh of the test tool, and the test tooling is shown in Appendix E.2. If the battery slips during the test, the battery sample can be fixed to the wire mesh with a single wire; if this is not the case, the battery cannot be bundled. Heat the battery with flame and stop heating when the following three conditions occur:
a) battery explosion
b) The battery is completely burned
c) continuous heating for 30min, but the battery is not ignited, not exploding

Combustion particle test: Requirement: Each test sample cell or battery is placed on a wire mesh screen. The mesh screen has 20 holes per 25.4 mm (1 inch) and the wire diameter is 0.43 mm (0.017 inch). The mesh screen was installed at 38.1 mm (1.5 inches) above the burner. The ratio of combustion to air flow is adjusted to produce a bright blue flame that causes the wire mesh to glow into a bright red color. A multi-layered gauze is placed vertically with a distance of 0.94 m (3 ft) from the center of the mesh to the gauze. The gauze screen area is 914x914mn (1 yard 2) and consists of four layers of gauze. The gauze weighs 12^18g/m2 (0.40.6 oz/yd2). The test sample is placed such that the spark or burning particles are directed to the center of the gauze screen as much as possible. In some cases, it may be necessary to bundle the test sample on the mesh to hold it in place. Then ignite the burner and observe the battery until the battery explodes or until the battery burns
Result: The gauze screen should not be ignited when the unit cell or battery is subjected to the specified test.
Projectile test: Requirement: Each test sample cell or battery is placed on a platform. The center of the platen is opened with a hole with a diameter of 102mn (4 inches). The hole is covered with a mesh screen. The mesh screen is made of steel wire, each 25.4mm ( 1 inch) has 20 holes and the wire diameter is 0.43mn (0.017 inches). An octagonal wire cage with a top cover is placed on the test piece. The side of the cage is 610 mm (2 feet) long and 305 m (1 foot) high. It is made of metal mesh. The metal mesh screen is woven from a wire of 0.25 mm (0.010 inch) in diameter with 16 to 18 metal wires per 25.4 mm (1 inch) on each side. Place the sample on the mesh that covers the center hole of the platen and heat the sample until the sample explodes or until the sample burns Result: When subjected to the specified test, the explosion of the unit cell or part of the battery should not penetrate the metal mesh screen. To this end, some or all of the cells or batteries should not protrude beyond the mesh. |

Combustion particle test: Requirement: For protection, this test is to be carried out in a room separate from the observer. Each test sample cell or battery was placed on a wire mesh screen. The mesh screen had 20 holes per 25.4 mm (1 inch) and the wire diameter was 0.43 mm (0.017 inches). The mesh screen was installed at 38.1 mm (1.5 inches) above the burner. The ratio of burning to air flow is adjusted to produce a bright blue flame that causes the wire mesh to glow into a bright red color. It is approximately 700° (1292° F). A multi-layer gauze screen is placed vertically with a horizontal measurement distance of 0.91 m (3 ft) from the center of the screen to the gauze screen. The gauze screen area is 914X914mm (1 yard 2) and consists of 4 layers of gauze. The weighing of the yarn fabric is 12~18g/m2 (0.4~0.6oz/yd2). Test sample should be like this Place so that the spark or burning particles are directed to the center of the gauze screen. In some cases, it may be necessary to bundle the test sample on the mesh to hold it in place. The burner is then ignited and the battery is observed until the battery explodes, or until the lithium is burned.
Result: The gauze screen should not be ignited when the unit cell or battery is subjected to the specified test. |

To this end, some or all of the cells or batteries should not protrude beyond the mesh screen. |

Combustion jet test Requirement: Each battery tested was placed on a wire screen with a hole density of 20/inch (25.4 mm) and the wire diameter was 0.017 inches (0.43 mm). The steel screen is placed directly above the combustion hole, 1^1/2 inch (38.1mn) from the hole. The fuel gas supply requires that a bright blue flame be placed directly on the steel screen to make it bright red. A vertical panel is placed 3 feet (0.31 m) from the center of the steel screen, and the panel is naturally (easy to burn) hang the cotton layer. The cotton area is 1 square yard (914 × 914mn), a total of four layers. The weight of the cotton material is 0.4~0.6 oz/sq. (12~18g/n2). The position of the battery is required to be aligned with the center of the cotton cloth to ensure that the material ejected at high temperature is sprinkled on the cotton cloth. At the same time, the battery is required to be securely attached to the combustion cradle. After the burner hole is clicked, the battery will be heated to an explosion or destroyed. Result: the cotton cloth that was laid on the final panel could not catch fire. Projectile test Requirement: Each tested battery is placed on a steel mesh of -20 mesh [20 holes/inch (25.4 mm)] porosity. The steel mesh rests above the opening of a 4 inch (102 mm) aperture platform with a wire diameter of 0.017 (0.43m) Place an equilateral octagonal cage above the platform; the cage is 2 feet (610mm) apart and 1 foot (305mn) high, with a wire diameter of 0.01 inches (0.25mn). The density of 16, 18 inches per inch is woven in the vertical direction. The battery is placed in the center of the stencil and the hole until it explodes or is destroyed. Result: any debris or battery case after the explosion of the battery cannot penetrate the wire mesh, or any part of the battery cannot fall outside the wire mesh |

Combustion jet test Requirement: Each test cell is placed on a 20-hole steel wire per inch (25.4 mm) with a wire thickness of 0.017 inches. The screen is placed at a distance of 1-1/2 (38.1 mm) inches from the burner. Fuel and air are sprayed at a speed that provides a bright blue flame so that the wire mesh burns bright red. A coarse asbestos panel was placed at a vertical distance of 3 feet (0.91 m) from the center of the stencil. The asbestos sheet is one square yard and consists of four layers of coarse asbestos material weighing 0.4-0.6 ounces per square yard. The test sample is placed in a position where Mars or burning particles can be sprayed into the center of the asbestos sheet. In some cases, it should be required to enclose the experimental sample in the mesh, then ignite the burner and observe the battery until it explodes or is destroyed. Result: The rough asbestos cloth should not ignite.
Projectile test: Requirement: The test cell was placed on a flat table with a 4 inch diameter hole and covered with a cover. The cover is constructed of a 20-hole wire mesh per foot or a wire of 0.017 inches (0.43 mm). A screen screen of 8 faces wide (610 mm) and 1 foot high (305 mm) per side was placed around the sample. The metal mesh consists of a wire having a diameter of 0.010 inches (0.25 mm) and is 16-18 filaments per inch. The sample is placed on a metal mesh, covering the hole in the center of the table, and then heated until it explodes or is destroyed. The safety valve faces parallel to the asbestos cloth. Result: No part of the explosion battery penetrates the screen, and some or all of the batteries protrude from the screen. |
